If 2 GB is excessive, why is AT&T selling 3 GB... →
parislemon: Great question. I added tethering to my plan for a recent business trip and was forced to jump to the new 3/5gb plan (of course going back to 2gb is not even an option). If 2gb is excessive, I wonder if I will get throttled before I even reach my cap in the high-traffic areas they claim to be focusing the throttling.

I Work For The Internet →
staff: We work for the Internet. And we’re guessing many of you do too. Whether it’s researching, selling, coding, supporting, designing — so many of our careers depend on the Internet. One argument that’s been made to Congress is that the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is needed to protect American jobs. In truth, the new liabilities this bill would impose on startups could stop American...

I’m no expert on taking leaps of faith and making it. I’m an engineer. It’s a job I can tolerate, but I have bigger dreams. My wife worked for a few years in marketing for non-profits before she hit a wall and needed to find something she loved. A little over a year ago, she decided to pursue one of her hobbies as a profession. Glessner Photography was born. We started small,...

On Doing What You Love
I think about the whole “do what you love” thing constantly, so while some folks whose musings I respect are writing about it, I’ll share my thoughts as well… Of course Tony oversimplified it, but Michele’s cynicism echos how most people feel about this and is exactly why they need an oversimplified kick in the ass sometimes. Is it too late for some people to do...

1 week without clocks
A week ago, I posted about giving up a few things that cause negativity in my life in one way or another. As I mentioned, clocks were a real source of anxiety for me because I spend 8-9 hours a day at my desk, so I spent a lot of time looking at them and feeling like time wasn’t passing. To pay a little less attention to the clock and a little more to getting things done, I removed the...

Have Faith.
Not in anything in particular. Just put your faith concretely into something and use it to keep you grounded when things are bad and to celebrate when things are good. God, Love, Friendship, Music, Burritos, Legos. Doesn’t matter. True, unyielding faith is rewarding.

If you send an email, I will likely reply by email. If you come to my office with the same question after I sent the reply but before you get a chance to read it, I will likely reply by stabbythings.

Monty (with Clarity!)
Snapped this picture a few days ago. It was inside on a cloudy day with no lights on in the room. Very little ambient light. The details of Monty’s face were completely lost in shadows, even using the HDR function in the default camera app. I knew an update was coming to taptaptap’s Camera+ app that might help so I snapped an extra shot and saved it in my lightbox. The update hit...

I write like Cory Doctorow...
…an author of whom I’ve never heard. I’ll just assume he writes about poop and dicks and iPhones. Yes, I’m late to the meme. Deal with it.
